Joint-Stock Company

Background

Joint-stock companies provided the financial means for the English to explore the New World. They were many investors who pooled their money together to support an exploration team in the hope that they would find riches. Though they were good for explorations, joint-stock companies were not meant for colonizing and so much pressure was put on the settlers to quickly find treasures and move on. The Virginian colony started as a joint-stock company: the Virginia Company of London.
This falls under foreign and domestic policy because joint-stock companies went to foreign places to make money.
