Primogeniture

Background

Primogeniture is a concept that says the first-born male of a household should inherit everything. England had laws of primogeniture so all of the sons who were not first-born needed alternative methods of making money, causing them to turn towards exploring and joint-stock companies. Examples: Gilbert, Raleigh and Drake.
