Walter Raleigh

(1552-1618) Motivated by his lack of inheritance due to the laws of primogeniture, Walter Raleigh led England’s second attempt at colonization of the Americas in Virginia. He was preceded by his half-brother's, Sir Humphrey Gilbert’s, failure. Raleigh landed on Roanoke Island in 1585 but after many attempts there, the colony simply disappeared.
Walter Raleigh falls into foreign and domestic policy because he went to a foreign place to make new connections and gain land.

Ultimately beheaded for treason.
